About

About what??

Oh, I guess you guys want to know about me, why this blog and all that stuff.

Well, apparently I like to type, and this is a good place to do it, and they let you!!

For years I have been hearing people say that I should write a book……….admittedly,
that usually comes up in regards to my kids, but sparing them, and trying hard to avoid a Mommy Dearest award, I think it’s much easier to write about all the other crazy things in my life.

As for writing a book, well let’s just call a spade a spade, that ain’t going to happen.
I still have some dreams in life, but realistically, writing a book is not one of them.

But I could do a blog, and that’s about how much time I can spare for this.

So here I am…………

So what’s this blog about?

Well I guess It can be about just about anything I feel like on any given day, but overall, I suspect it will be about the silly realities of moving to the country and the attempt, by total newbies, to try their hand at some form of homesteading. The menagerie we've acquired along the way and all their antics. The gardens I'm planting and the energies we are trying to harness. The mistakes ( and there’s LOTS ) we’ve made on the way, what we’ve learnt ( the hard way ) and the real truth about stuff we’ve looked up on the Internet (that was total bunk)
The whole thing about moving to the country, some would say that I've always been there already. Except for a short stint in college, I’ve never lived in a city, and never plan to again, I’ve always lived in what would be called small town southern Ontario, or a suburb of that. Yes, small towns do have suburbs, that's how you end up with a postal code for one town, a phone number for another, and the nearest grocery store is in yet still another.
North of 7, they call it. For some, the equivalent of North of 40, and for others that can, and have figured it out, an area to be visited regularly on weekends or as much as possible.

So what’s so different now??? Well now we are actually on a "property" , an awesome one BTW, with acreage and fields and trees and a river and the potential to do whatever we are stupid enough to attempt. And with that comes choices, issues, mistakes and a comedy factor that I never imagined……….and that, I suppose, is what this blog is about.
Three years into it, I'm starting to realize that the "learning curve" is not so much a curve at all. It's more like the road to that special summer getaway............it's got curves and bumps, hills and potholes, it undulates enough to test your stomach and make you wonder if you can still hang on, but the destination is AWESOME and so worth the ride.

Mistakes are for learning, and for laughing at. I'm sharing mine with you, and I hope that you can have a giggle on me and spare yourself the same ones.
..........learn from mine, it's cheaper!!
